We’ve marked our first year as a company partner of the Nuclear Institute’s Young Generation Network (YGN), and it’s been a year of momentum.
The YGN is a vital network for early-career professionals in nuclear, offering collaboration, career development and international engagement across the sector. Over the past 12 months, we’ve focused on building a partnership that supports and amplifies their mission.
We’ve actively encouraged our apprentices, graduates and new starters to get involved, supporting them in unlocking the benefits of YGN membership and connection with the wider industry. At the same time, our people have stepped up to support delivery of the YGN’s strategy, taking on sub-committee roles, volunteering as speakers, and contributing to cross-sector initiatives.
We’ve also worked to broaden engagement beyond the industry with new approaches to outreach. Our Fission Chips social media campaign, which will launch imminently, is helping demystify nuclear and inspire more young people to consider careers in the sector.
Across the year, colleagues have participated in key YGN events, including the annual conference and dinner, and a collaborative workshop with YGN committee members to explore how we can widen participation and strengthen engagement across the network. One of our colleagues also supported the YGN’s International Trip to Abu Dhabi, helping with planning and leading on marketing and communications. This trip was a valuable opportunity for young nuclear professionals to learn from global sectors and share skills and expertise.
Szymon Cichosz, our Company Catalyst, said:
“I’m really pleased with the progress we’ve made during our first year as a YGN company partner. We’re seeing growing involvement from our early careers cohorts and strong collaboration across the network. There’s a lot to be excited about as we build on this momentum.”
As we move into year two, the focus is clear: scale up, deepen engagement and create even more opportunities for early-career professionals across the nuclear sector.
Thank you to our colleagues, the YGN committee and the wider Nuclear Institute community for helping make year one such a success. We’re just getting started.
